Green Program
New York City's Premier Hotel is a member of greenhotels.com. The Premier Hotel is committed to preserving the environment through eco-friendly initiatives and meetings. These environmentally friendly initiatives are only the first step of this Times Square hotel's long-term focus on being "green."
Short-Term Goals
- Raise awareness of sustainable development issues
- Promote environmental purchasing and supply
- Monitor progress of implementation measures
- Set up a "Green Committee" in Manhattan, headed by an Executive Committee member
Products and Practices
Water Conservation
- Guests can do their part to assist this NYC hotel's green efforts by opting to have their linens changed on the second night of their stay, in order to reduce the amount of New York City water used in the cleaning process
- Guests can participate in the terry re-use program, in which they can choose to hang their towels back on the rack and reuse or simply place the towels on the floor or in the bathtub to be replaced by clean, fresh ones
- Hotel rooms have been equipped with showerheads, toilets and faucets that conserve the Manhattan water supply
Electrical Energy Conservation
- New, low-energy lighting is being used within hotels
- All equipment being purchased is EnergyStar® compliant
- New programmable thermostats in guest rooms and meeting rooms eliminate unnecessary energy usage
Recycling in Manhattan
- Introduced recycling programs for glass and bottles after meetings and wherever possible
- Instituted a program to recycle paper at all corporate and hotel offices and reception desks
Eco-Friendly Suppliers and Products
- Cleaning processes revamped to eliminate the use of aerosols and introduce eco-friendly cleaning chemicals
- Eliminated the use of non-biodegradable Styrofoam cups
- All corporate and property-wide collateral to be printed on recycled plastics and paper
- Selected environmentally friendly suppliers from the Avendra procurement program
The Premier Hotel in New York City is dedicated to life-long environmental responsibility. We will continue to embrace the addition of new environmentally friendly policies and work toward becoming a "greener" hotel and conference center in the future.
